About me
I have been living and teaching in South Korea since 2010 and currently teach at Cheongna Dalton School. My path to the classroom was a bit unconventional; before moving to Korea, I spent a decade in Chicago working in meetings management. That experience in organization and logistics deeply informs how I approach classroom leadership and curriculum design today.
Over the years, I’ve taught AP Modern World History, AP Human Geography, and AP Comparative Government, as well as Grade 9 Social Studies. Having recently completed my Master’s in Educational Leadership, I am particularly focused on how we can better serve our students through Standards-Based Grading. My passion in the Social Studies classroom is building students' recursive reasoning skills through case studies. I strive to create "real-world transfers" of knowledge, where students choose the issues they are curious about and learn to communicate ideas or take action that matters outside the school walls.
On a personal note, my wife and daughter are Korean, and we love spending our time together exploring the "old town" parts of the city for authentic food, traveling to Michigan in the summers when we can, and cheering on Incheon United. Now that my Master’s is officially behind me, I am very much looking forward to reclaiming my role as a Dungeon Master and starting up some D&D games with my colleagues again.
